Property loss claims
resulting from fire, flood, wind, earthquakes, fungi, and other
causes are sometimes difficult for claims adjusters to settle.
Separation of original defects and pre-existing damage from
the covered loss requires careful inspection and, in some cases,
materials testing.

KGA Project
Experience
• Fire Loss:
Following the devastating Laguna Beach fires of October 1993,
which destroyed over 400 homes, KGA facilitated the resolution
of over 100 first-party property loss claims.
• Earthquake
Loss: Within hours of the Northridge earthquake, KGA staff performed
reconnaissance of numerous commercial, retail, and residential
facilities to ascertain the extent of damage and the suitability
for occupancy. Long after the disaster, we continue to assist
in the resolution of “hard-to-settle” first party
claims.
• Fungi Decay:
Most recently, KGA has investigated hundreds of claims related
to fungi attack and the resultant decay of affected building components.
KGA Independent
Appraiser/Umpire
Aside from our traditional
designation as qualified construction experts, KGA routinely serves
as an “independent and competent” insurance appraiser
or umpire to settle scope of loss disputes and related repair
costs covered under the policy. |
